We have received two reports of difficulty playing the DVDs in the USA. The DVDs will play on computers, which seeem to be universally compatible, but not on all US-based entertainment systems. If you have purchased a DVD set that won't play on your home system please let me know and we will refund the costs of the DVDs Conference ends on a high22 Jul 2006
Everyone who attended the conference learned something new. We learned that the techniques of 'disease-mongering', in particular the expansion of the boundaries of disorders, the medicalisation of normal life events and the portrayal of risk factors as diseases is prevalent in the medical marketing world. Conference delegates expressed the hope that the public and media would become more skeptical of such claims and that health professionals would challenge the claims and recognise the marketing interests that attempt to shape their perceptions of disease. Many of the presentations at the conference can be watched on the DVDs advertised on this site. DVD of the conference is available (Please read carefully)13 Jun 2006
The 2DVD/1CD set for the Conference proceedings is now available. This set contains the 'motivational deficiency disorder' documentary, a selection of featured plenary presentations from the Conference and a CD containing the relevant Powerpoint presentations. The production cost was a little higher than we anticipated, so the price is $A40 plus $A2 postage for Australian orders and $A40 plus $A6 for overseas orders. Please note that the prices quoted in the linked PayPal site DO include postage and packing. The quality of the DVDs is high and the mock doumentary is amusing and educational, so we think you will enjoy them. The link on the panel to the right goes to the PayPal site but if you prefer not to use this please contact me directly and we will organise another form of payment.
